P90X Classic Day 23 – Core Synergistics
WOW is all I can say.
I am surprised how much today actually kicked my ass. I knew recovery week wasn’t going to be “easy”, but given there are multiple X Stretch days + Kenpo X, its supposed to be an easier week then most.
Enter Core Synergistics. This took me by surprise. Honestly though, I felt like only a few exercises really forced me to hold my abs and core in place, but others I ended up feeling more in my arms or legs. Maybe that was the point though…you have to tone and condition your limbs in order for your core to stay solid.
The walking pushups near the end were difficult, the lunge kickback curl press for 2 minutes was tough, the side hip raise for my right arm (the weaker one) was difficult, and the squat x-press got hard near the end.
The various banana rolls weren’t overly hard, but this entire workout had me sweating, panting, and trying to regain my composure multiple times. I felt more winded at times then during Kenpo or even Plyometrics.
Here is an example video of Core Synergistics. NO, this is NOT me
Nutrition
I haven’t been writing down my nutrition like I should, though I have been eating pretty good lately. This morning, I had 1 scoop of whey protein pre-workout. Then during the workout I had orange gatorade powder because of the Dextrose, and post-workout I had 8 ounces of Grape Juice mixed with 1 scoop of whey protein.
About 30 minutes later, I had 1/2 a blueberry bagel (about 135 calories) topped with 1/2 tsp of almond butter, and 2 scrambled eggs with a dash of chedder cheese.
Tomorrow is Kenpo X, so I am excited for that…its always fun.

Hey Bryan! I think Recovery Week is a misnomer. Though you are recoverying from the usual workout, it still kicks your butt. Keep up the great job!

Hey Bryan,
Good to hear what I’m about to get into next week. The one workout I’ve been really interested in was Core Synergetics, having no idea what that meant other than it was connected to strengthening my core.
Keep up the good stuff, man!
